TED Gateway

The Heart of the TED 5000 is the Gateway, the newest component to the TED monitoring system, and the driving force behind TED 5000. The Gateway provides the TED system with added functionality and data accessibility to make home energy management easier than ever!

With the TED 5000, the Gateway receives and stores your energy data internally. This data can then be relayed to the brand new TED 5000 Display via ZigBee wireless. The Gateway stores 60 minutes of Second-data, 2 days of Minute-data, 90 days of Hourly-data, 24 months of Daily-data, and 10 years of Monthly-data.

Your real-time and historical data can be viewed on your computer by utilizing the Gateway's Ethernet jack, IP chip, and embedded TED Footprints software (Windows, Mac, and Linux compatible). Additionally, when you connect the Gateway to your wireless router, you can access your data from any computer or mobile device with Internet access.

How do I install?

Installation is very simple and quick. A technically-savvy homeowner, neighbor, friend or electrician can install TED in 10-15 minutes. TED operates on the existing wires in your home, so there is no need to run any additional wires. Once the 'setup' routine has been completed, TED permanently stores all the data that has been entered, even in the event of a power outage. It only needs to be re-programmed if your electricity rates change.

TED 5000 is comprised of 2 basic components - a transmitter (MTU seen above with thumb-squeeze, clip-on CTs) and a Gateway (which is plugged into any outlet in the home). The Gateway simply plugs into any electrical outlet in the home. There are no wires to run. Data is transmitted over existing wiring in your home every 1 second, so no matter where you plug TED's Gateway in, it receives the data - in very real time!

The reason a technically-savvy person or an electrician should perform the MTU (transmitter) installation is that the cover of the electric panel is removed. Serious injury/death could occur if you are not familiar with electrical components and operation of the circuit breaker panel. It is a very simple installation for an electrician.
