The TED 5000 series puts YOU in charge!

• What is TED? –The Energy Detective (TED) is a home electricity monitor that provides real-time feedback on electricity usage. TED is accurate, affordable, and easy to understand.
• What data is shown? – TED provides real-time kW/hr readings, monthly bill projections, voltage, power factor and much more.
• How does it work? – TED 5000-C series has three main components: One component, MTU/CT set (Measuring Transmitting Unit/Current Transformer), which installs in your breaker panel and transmits data over your existing powerline, a Gateway, picks up these signals and provides you with information, and a sleek wireless display.
• How will I save? – TED provides real-time detailed information to help you efficiently lower utility bills, reduce electricity waste, and help save the environment.

TED Gateway

The Gateway is the heart of the TED 5000 series. It stores 60 minutes of Second-data, 2 days of Minute-data, 90 days of Hourly-data, 24 months of Daily-data, and 10 years of Monthly-data and provides the communications interface to your computer. Your real-time and historical data can be viewed on your computer by the Gateway's Ethernet connection and its embedded Footprints Firmware (Windows, Mac, and Linux compatible). The Gateway connects to your router so you can view data on you local computer or remotely with internet access via a SmartPhone applications.

TED 5000-C Series

The TED 5000-C series provides you the ability to monitor data on its included wireless display, local computer, or remotely via an internet connection on a SmmartPhone application. The TED-5000-C series is available in the following four configurations:

• TED 5000-C: Package includes one MTU/CT set, one Gateway and one Display.

• Homes with Single Electrical Panels
• Homes with Single Electrical Panels and Solar or wind installations (will only record the net of generation and production - to record generation and production separately, you will need to order the TED 5002-G)
• TED 5002-C: Package includes two MTU/CT sets, one Gateway and one Display.
  Perfect for monitoring:
• Homes with Two Electrical Panels
• Homes with Single Electrical panel and Wind/Solar Installation
• Homes with Single Electrical Panel and One Subpanel (if you desire to measure the Subpanel independently)
• TED 5003-C: Package includes three MTU/CT sets, one Gateway and one Display.

• Homes with Three Electrical Panels
• Homes with Single Electrical Panel and Two Wind/Solar Inverters (includes net metering)

• iTED: is a mobile application for iOS and Android OS devices such as the iPhone and Droid phone models for monitoring energy usage in conjunction with our TED 5000 series. TEDisplay supports multi-MTU configurations with access to just about every data value available from the TED 5000. How do I Install TED?

This graphic is not to be considered installation instructions, but simply an overview of the effort. Complete installation instructions with all safety concerns are included in your purchase. Installation is very simple and quick. A technically-savvy homeowner, neighbor, friend or electrician can install TED in 10-15 minutes.

The reason a technically-savvy person or an electrician should perform the MTU/CT installation is that the cover of the electric panel is removed. Serious injury/death could occur if you are not familiar with electrical components and operation of the circuit breaker panel. It is a very simple installation for an electrician.

Once the 'setup' routine has been completed, TED permanently stores all the data that has been entered, even in the event of a power outage. It only needs to be re-programmed if your electricity rates change.

• TED is suitable for electrical services up to 200 Amps, or up to 800 Amps with four parallel 200A feeds (with 4 MTUs)
• TED is suitable for services with maximum 350 MCM conductors
• If you have 3-phase or 230 V 50Hz electrical services, TED 5000 will not work. We are working on developing these units
